Overview

Pharmacology is concerned with the study of the sources, chemical properties, biological effects and therapeutic uses of drugs. The subject includes domains like pharmacotherapeutics and pharmacovigilance.

 

The department introduces students to the scientific basis of therapeutics. It builds upon this by emphasizing the evidence-based, rational use of drugs. 

Goals

  • Equipping students with the right knowledge of Rational Drug Therapy and its importance in clinical applications is the primary goal of the department.
  • To impart an effective education and train MBBS students so as to make them understand the Pharmacological basis of Clinical Therapeutics.
  • To encourage evidence-based learning in the field of Pharmacology and Therapeutics for better understanding of the subject.

 

Faculty:

The Department is headed by Professor Dr. S Basalingappa an eminent pharmacologist. Apart from him, the Department has an Associate Professor, Three Assistant Professors and OneTutor.
