Overview

Medical Education or “how to teach medicine” is a specialty in itself. It deals with educational strategies, curriculum designing, feedback and assessment.

 

The Medical Education Unit strives to impart training in the art and science of teaching medicine. It achieves this through the conduct of Medical Education Technology workshops, CMEs, and other avenues.

Goals

  • To establish the MEU as a vital department

 

Aims & Objectives

  • To organize / depute the teachers for teaching training in RTCs recognized by MCI, and see to it that all the faculty  have undergone training.
  • Conduct in house Medical Education workshops.
  • Invite renowned personalities in the medical education field (National and International) to address the teachers and conduct workshops.
  • Bring in newer methodology in teachings/ learning, assessment within the prescribed guidelines of  KUHS & MCI.5.       Emphasize on vertical and horizontal integrations.
  • Encourage for development of tools which should bring in health awareness to common public of the area.
  • Facilitate the exchange programs of teachers for the global expanse in Medical Education.
  • Collaborate with scientific and research committee in organizing of various continued medical education programmers CME, Seminars, lectures etc.
  • Encourage teachers to take up research in medical education.
  • Develop methodology to maintain high quality in teaching/ learning (Quality Control).
  • Conduct Orientation program and Graduation day program (in consultation with Dean).
  • Conduct students’ evaluation of teachers and teaching program.

The unit is located in the second floor of Academy block, and measures 137.57 m2. The MEU has three distinct areas: - one for office, second for interactive lectures, third for group activity of the participants.
